Thanks for visiting

Established in 1965, Fergushill Riding Stables LLP is a family run friendly riding school situated in North Ayrshire. Our facilities include indoor and outdoor arenas and all of our stables are indoors providing protection from the West of Scotland weather. We also have 'The Pony Club Hall', a recreation room for training, fun and fund raising activities.

COVID-19 UPDATE  23/05/20

If anyone in your household is self-isolating, please do not attend.

Cancellation fees are not required at this time.

We will be offering private lessons only as per government guidelines.

We will leave a minimum of 15 minutes between each rider to avoid congregating.

We may have the arena divided for your lesson with a one way system in place and 2 metre distancing.

We request that you wear clean gloves when attending to ride.

Reins and saddles will be disinfected between riders.

Hats and body protectors will NOT be available for loan from FRS at this time.

Staff have masks and visors to be used when necessary but we intend to stay 2 metres away at all times.

We require payment in a sealed envelope with your name, amount and date written on outside and posted in the box provided onsite.

Your pony will be ready for you in the bus bay (covered area outside entrance to indoor arena), you will have to unhook the pony from the lead rope and lead to the outdoor arena under supervision by instructor. Please wait in your car until your instructor invites you forward to collect your pony.

Please resist the temptation to pat your pony or watch others in their lesson.

All lessons will be conducted OUTDOORS as per government guidelines, please dress appropriately.

Please use hand sanitiser provided on arrival and before leaving.

We require one adult from the same household as the rider to attend during the lessons of all children for safeguarding reasons.

We have extended the viewing area at the outdoor arena and marked 2 metre distances and allow one person per child to spectate.

THE HORSE RIDER’S CODE OF CODUCT

 I understand that riding at any standard has inherent risk and that all horses may react unpredictably on occasions.

 I may fall off and could be injured. I accept that risk.

 I understand that instructions are given for my safety and agree to follow instructions given to me by staff and instructors at the riding school.

 I reserve the right not to ride a horse allocated to me and may request a change of instructor.

 I understand that wearing an appropriate hat and body protector may reduce the severity of an injury should an accident happen and agree that I will always wear a riding hat whilst riding, leading and grooming horses at the riding school. I understand that it is my choice whether or not to wear a body protector.

 I understand that the riding school will make decisions based on information I give them and agree to always be honest and volunteer information about:

 my abilities and riding experience

 any previous riding accidents

 any medical condition(s) which may affect my ability to ride

 any condition that may affect my understanding of instructions

 I understand that children are at particular risk around horses and agree that I will keep any children that I am responsible for, under close supervision when they are not being instructed by the riding school.

 I understand that the riding school may refuse my request to ride for safety and operational reasons.

 I understand that competing carries enhanced risk over and above general riding and agree that if I chose to participate in any competition or event, it is up to me to ensure that I have the experience and ability to ride the course including any jumps which form part of it. If I am in any doubt, I will use my judgement and experience and not enter.

Frequently asked questions can be answered in the following paragraphs.

We are a Pony Club Centre linked with the National Pony Club. Members can gain badges for equine and non equine related subjects and receive certificates for Progressive Awards and Efficiency Tests even if they have no pony of their own.

Our qualified and experienced staff pride themselves in delivering educational and progressive tuition whilst ensuring clients enjoy the fun of riding. We specialise in teaching children and young people from the age of 6 and regret that we are unable to accommodate adults.

We are currently waiting for more information about returning to riding but it looks likely that we will only be offering private lessons for some time. If you would like to enquire about your child riding with us, please contact us with their name, age, approximate height and weight, your name and contact telephone number.

We don't offer livery.

CHAS FUNDRAISER HAD US JUMPING FOR JOY

In December 2015 we handed over a cheque to CHAS (Children's Hospice Association Scotland) for over £12,400.00. This followed a year of fundraising and lots of baking, scavenger hunting, photography, story writing, partying, bingo and even an auction. Well done to Kayleigh Porter and Rebecca Sloan who raised the two largest amounts from the sponsored 'Ride & Run' event. Thank you to everyone who took part, who sponsored the riders and those who generously donated prizes, without you this amazing amount would not have been possible.
